The Poetree: Songs and Poems

I take a quirky, philosophical look on life and try and give tender answers in the form of poems, songs and performance art. I like to be as free as possible in the way I live and I love the quote from Camus:

"The only way to deal with an unfree world is become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion."

I spent time writing in the cafes of Paris which resulted in the coffee pot shaped book and Love Café tour. In that show the poems were presented as a game of Bingo - it made it much more fun for the audience and at least they had a chance of winning a prize!

When someone picks something off the Poetree they get to listen to a song or poem their object inspires. The songs are usually soft serenades or occasionally a quirky number and the people I have serenaded range from waiters to Counts, children to Royalty (well ok it was Nan from the Royle family!)

At the moment I'm exploring the idea of trying to write songs that include poetry in them using those little wind up music mechanisms. For a free download of my favourite one click here.

If you'd like to have a go at poetry origami, you can download the poem 'How to make this poem in to a paper bird'. (You will need to chop the bottom off the A4 print out to make the paper square before you start.)
