The Poetree

Word M'art is an interactive supermarket themed installation that can be set up in empty shops, real supermarkets, as a market stall for fetes, carnivals, festivals or as a museum or gallery installation.

It was inspired by Poems in a Tin which was created for National Poetry Day, performed at the local supermarket and featured on Radio 4 and BBC television.

As well as the Poems in a Tin, Word M'art features edible poetry in the cake aisle, ready mix poetic objets d'art, pick n' mix poetry, instant songs, the singing shelf stackers and their shopping bag boogie , dancing in the aisles, a pharmacy offering poetic cures, Word M'art radio piped through the store, 2 for 1 stories and poetry scratch cards. Food for the soul has never been such good value!

Thanks to FEAST for funding and getting such an exciting and fun project off the ground. I felt so lucky - it made me think of the line from Raymond Carver's poem "The Grant":

'Imagine the luxuriousness of this life.'
